No. The full global directory works in any browser. The free app adds the toolkit for when you're traveling: conditions, waypoints, and trip tracks.
We seed listings from public data and operator submissions, and operators can claim their listing free to keep the details current.
Partly, and we would rather be straight about which parts. Saved waypoints and anything you have already loaded stay available with no signal, and your logs sync when you connect again. There is no download-this-area button yet, so a map you have never opened will not draw. Downloadable maps are on the way.
