Marker Buoy Dive Club
Seattle, WA
An independent Seattle dive club with over 270 members that conducts roughly 150 local dives a year, most of them shore dives around Puget Sound. Its membership ranges from newly certified divers to those with thousands of dives, spanning interests from underwater photography to technical diving and marine science. The club traces its roots to a shop-sponsored club founded in 1961 and became fully independent in 2007.
Great Lakes Shipwreck Preservation Society
Fridley, MN
A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in May 1996 to stabilize and protect the deteriorating shipwrecks of the Great Lakes region. Its membership of roughly 130 to 200 divers, historians, and authors carries out shipwreck buoy programs, stabilization projects, National Register nominations, and museum displays across the Great Lakes.
Los Angeles Black Underwater Explorers (LABUE)
Los Angeles, CA
A scuba diving club founded in 1992 to expand the knowledge and enjoyment of the sport among African-American divers, while welcoming members of all backgrounds. Supported by more than 100 members, LABUE runs beach dives, boat dives, dive-travel trips, and social and networking activities spanning interests from underwater photography to technical diving. General membership meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at the Natural History Museum in Exposition Park.
Aquatic Explorers Scuba Club
NY
A scuba club in Dutchess County, New York, first incorporated on June 21, 1957 as the Empire State Rescue Squad and teaching scuba from 1958. It is among the longest-running dive clubs in New York State.
Bay Area Underwater Explorers
CA
A nonprofit 501(c)(3) dive club dedicated to the exploration and conservation of underwater environments, with most activities taking place in Northern California. The local Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) club, BAUE runs monthly recreational and technical charters and hosts presentations and workshops by expert explorers and educators.
Big Apple Divers
New York, NY
A nonprofit 501(c)(7) scuba diving club that has served New York City and the surrounding area since 1971. The club offers diving trips, monthly presentations, an underwater photographic society, and social events for its members.
Boston Sea Rovers
Boston, MA
One of the oldest and most respected dive clubs in the United States, tracing its roots to divers who began meeting at a Boston YMCA in the early 1950s. Its members and associates have included legendary figures of underwater exploration such as Jacques Cousteau (who joined in 1955), Sylvia Earle, Bob Ballard, and Stan Waterman. The club's annual Ocean Clinic, run every year since 1954, is regarded as the longest continuously running dive show in the world.
Chicago Undersea Explorers Society
Chicago, IL
A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dive club founded in 2020 in the Chicago area. General membership meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month over Zoom.
CHUM Social Dive Club
Houston, TX
A Houston-area social scuba diving club that holds member meetings on the third Thursday of each month and organizes regular group dives, including local outings at area sites.
Hoofer Scuba Club
Madison, WI
One of six clubs that make up the Wisconsin Hoofers, the largest student organization at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Founded in 1976, its mission is to bring certified divers together, educate divers of all levels, and explore the underwater world through club trips and training.
Marin Scuba Club
Sausalito, CA
A membership scuba club serving Marin County and the greater San Francisco Bay Area. The club meets on the second Wednesday of each month from January through November at the Sausalito Parks & Recreation Center, with meetings featuring guest speakers and multimedia presentations on diving topics.
Palm Beach Freedivers
FL
Described as the oldest and only active freediving and spearfishing club in Palm Beach County, Florida. The club brings together local breath-hold divers and spearfishers.
Purdue University Scuba Club
West Lafayette, IN
A student scuba club at Purdue University that aims to educate and inspire divers of all skill levels through trips, educational opportunities, and social gatherings, with an emphasis on ocean health and conservation.
San Diego Freedivers
San Diego, CA
A member club that supports fellowship among Southern California's freedivers. Its stated purpose is to preserve the history of freediving and spearfishing, promote stewardship of marine resources, and encourage competition and good sportsmanship.
Scubadillo Dive Club
Dallas, TX
A member dive club in the Dallas area that meets on the first Thursday of every month at a social house in far north Dallas. The club organizes group dives and social gatherings for its members.
South Florida Divers, Inc.
Fort Lauderdale, FL
Founded in 1974, South Florida Divers is one of the oldest scuba diving clubs in Florida. The club holds monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at the Fort Lauderdale Firefighters Benevolent Association, often featuring expert presentations and discussions on topics of interest to divers.
South Orange County Dive Club
Mission Viejo, CA
A large recreational scuba diving club in Orange County, California, open to divers of all experience levels. The club organizes regular local and travel dives and meets on the second Wednesday of each month in Mission Viejo.
University of Rhode Island Scuba Club
Kingston, RI
A student scuba club at the University of Rhode Island that gives students the opportunity to learn to dive and to keep diving, with events and dives scheduled throughout the academic year and into the summer.
Windy City Seals
Chicago, IL
A family-oriented scuba diving sports organization in Chicago, Illinois, whose members focus on the promotion of scuba diving, environmental conservation, and education. Members meet on the third Saturday of each month.
